Penguin Random House’s One World imprint is thrilled to announce the Ideas In Action Workshop: an inclusive space to give creatives direct access to our authors, as well as strengthen the trust, resource-sharing, and support between readers and writers. The first workshop will be a six-week virtual poetry manuscript class, taught by Yanyi, author of Dream of the Divided Field, for Asian American poets who need guidance in putting together their debut poetry collections.
As a publisher of books that intentionally change the culture and create community, Penguin Random House will fully fund this workshop and all attendees will participate free of charge.
Over the course of the workshop, each student will have the opportunity to have their 40–80 page manuscript read and critiqued by their fellow poets. There will be five sessions, each taking place on Sundays from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. ET, beginning May 1. The sixth class will be a free public lecture on the making of Dream of the Divided Field and the wisdom Yanyi has gained during the book’s publishing process. Applications are open to all, but we encourage Asian American poets to submit their work for consideration.
