She is professor and former chair of the Global Studies Department at Bentley University in Boston, Massachusetts, and was dean of the Faculty of Environmental Studies at York University in Toronto, Canada. She has consulted on several global gender and environmental policies with UNESCO and the United Nations Environment Programme.
