This kid-friendly picture book biography celebrates the irrepressible individuality of Surrealist artist Salvador Dalí.

Salvador Dalí just couldn't help being himself. When he was little, he wasn't like the other children; he was a daydreamer who liked to play pretend. When he grew up, he became an artist, but he didn't want to make art that looked like everyone else's. He became the most famous painter of his time after he made a picture of melting clocks. He liked to do wild, attention-grabbing things: He drove a fancy car stuffed with 1,000 pounds of cauliflower. He gave a speech inside a deep-sea diving suit. And he took his pet ocelot Babou to lunch at snooty restaurants. He designed lollipop wrappers in exchange for free candy, a lobster phone that really worked, and a hat made out of a shoe! Here's the true story of the one and only Salvador Dalí, an artist who never stopped being himself.
Amy Guglielmo is a co-author of the popular Touch the Art series. Titles include: Brush Mona Lisa's Hair, Make Van Gogh's Bed and Pop Warhol's Top. Amy studied printmaking at the Tamarind Institute in New Mexico. She is an award-winning artist and illustrator, teacher, arts in education consultant, and the founder of Via Verde School of Art in New York City. Amy was a finalist for the 2014 Katherine Patterson Prize for Young Adult and Children's Writing. She lives with her husband on Lake Champlain.

Petra Braun is an artist and illustrator settled in the countryside of Austria. Together with her husband and two cats Woody and Berta, she lives in a small house surrounded by woods and rivers.

Brett Helquist is the illustrator of many books including The Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket, Chasing Vermeer, by Blue Balleitt and most recently Guitar Genius, by Kim Tomsic and Cezanne’s Parrot, by Amy Guglielmo. He is also the author of Bedtime for Bear, Grumpy Goat, and Roger the Jolly Pirate. He grew up in Utah and now lives in Brooklyn, New York with his wife and two kids.
