Join a crew of marine biologists as they sail around one of the world's most amazing habitats: the Galapagos Islands.

"An enchanting and absorbing read showcasing the islands’ scientific importance, history, and beauty. A visual feast for the eyes and mind"

—Sabina Radeva, author of On The Origin of Species
"A vibrant adventure that captures the exciting lives off conservationists in the field. Packed full of wild facts, this book celebrates rare biodiversity and highlights how we all must work together to save it." —Megan McCubbin, BBC 2's Springwatch

Tasked with observing and cataloguing the islands’ amazing wildlife and habitats, the scientists need to track down the animals and plants that are unique to the ecosystem and make a visual record. To get the job done they’ll have to climb volcanoes, get sneezed on by marine iguanas, launch a submersible and explore the deep-sea, and so on. Along the way we’ll encounter the experts who are the inheritors of Darwin’s scientific legacy, and learn all about marine conservation.
Helen Scales is a writer, marine biologist, broadcaster and scuba diver whose work focuses on oceans and their inhabitants. She has a masters degree in Tropical Coastal Management from Newcastle University, and a PhD from Cambridge University, UK.

Rômolo D'Hipólito is a Brazilian artist and illustrator. He is the winner of the 2019 Golden Pinwheel Special Mention Award and the 2018 Ibero-America Ilustra Catalog Official Selection.
