The second of two official companion books for the Zack Snyder-directed Netflix films Rebel Moon taking an exclusive in-depth look at the heroes and villains, monsters and animals.

From Zack Snyder, the filmmaker behind 300, Man of Steel, and Army of the Dead, comes REBEL MOON, an epic science-fantasy event decades in the making. When a peaceful settlement on a moon in the furthest reaches of the universe finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius, Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival. Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her in making an impossible stand against the Motherworld, Kora assembles a small band of warriors — outsiders, insurgents, peasants and orphans of war from different worlds who share a common need for redemption and revenge. As the shadow of an entire Realm bears down on the unlikeliest of moons, a new army of heroes is formed.

Rebel Moon: Wurm: Ex Materia: Heroes & Monsters goes behind the scenes of these much-anticipated films to explore the characters, creatures and themes. Bursting with exclusive on-set photography, concept art, costume designs, storyboards by Zack Snyder, and more, accompanied by cast and crew interviews, the book takes an in-depth look at the making of the films.
Peter Aperlo has written numerous art and making of film and video game books, including Watchmen: The Art of the Film, Watchmen: The Official Film Companion, Chappie: The Art of the Movie, and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice: The Art of the Film, and most recently Army of the Dead: The Making of the Film. He also scripted the console video games Watchmen: The End is Nigh (Parts 1 & 2) and The Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole. A film he co-wrote, Devil’s Gate, premiered at the 2017 Tribeca Film Festival. He is currently working on Twilight of the Gods, an animated series for Netflix. Based in southern California.
