For National Poetry Month in April, we are sharing poetry collections and books about poetry by authors who have their own stories to tell. These poets delve into history, reimagine the present, examine poetry itself—from traditional poems many know and love to poems and voices that are new and original.

Congratulations to Knopf Doubleday authors Rebecca Newberger Goldstein, author of Plato at the Googleplex, Jhumpa Lahiri, author of The Lowland, and Annie Dillard, author of For the Time Being, who were announced as recipients of the 2014 National Humanities Medal.

Jhumpa Lahiri has won the PEN/Malamud Award for Excellence in the Short Story. She will receive the $5,000 award and give a reading December 8 at the Folger Shakespeare Library.
