Basil Davenport

Basil Davenport was an academic, anthologist, and author. His book reviews appeared in the New York Times and the Saturday Review, and he frequently wrote introductions to works by other authors and anthologies, several of which he edited, including The Portable Roman Reader. He died in 1966.
